Our previous three SWFL Veg Fests focused heavily on the medical and scientific data relating the positive impacts of WFPB diet on human health; Lifestyle Medicine; and Compassion for Animals. But we didn’t focus on the health of the planet very much.
Local to SW Florida, we experienced an environmental water quality disaster during the summer of 2018 – Blue Green toxic algal blooms and Red Tide – although the causes are many, animal agriculture contributed.
The theme for this year’s SWFL Veg Fest is
Eat for the Planet – What’s on Your Plate Matters!
We are asking each of our speakers to tie into this theme as part of their powerpoint presentation. (For example, what is the impact of factory farms on water quality? Climate Change? What impact a plant-based diet has on the health of our planet?)
