Chef Sam Wood

Chef Sam perfectly personifies Café YOU’s motto… Fresher, Healthier, Tastier food.

He first became interested in cooking when his father planted a vegetable and herb garden in the back yard of their home in Wisconsin, where he grew up. His father taught him how to cook the produce from their garden, combining vegetables with various herbs and spices to achieve different flavor combinations. He also learned about the nutritional value of different vegetables, which has given him a wonderful grounding for his culinary career.

He first started his career focusing on the Midwestern table; then he trained in French cuisine, and his passion is experimenting with fresh flavor combinations and making exotic soups and sauces. The signature Café YOU dishes that will be showcased at VegFest are White Bean & Kale Korma, and Chick Pea Shakshuka.
